Lex’s Wine Journey
Lex Kiefhaber is an award winning wine professional and sommelier recently from Brooklyn, but now loving his DC life. He was the Wine Director of Smith and Wollensky's in New York City, one of the nation's oldest and most lauded steakhouses in the heart of Manhattan.
While working at S&W he was named one of the nations top 40 wine professionals under 40 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
Prior to Smith and Wollensky, Lex worked at the Brooklyn Winery where he hosted wine education events, managed the bar, scrubbed the tables, any and everything.
After leaving the restaurant world Lex attended Columbia Business School, then took the role of Director of Wine for Firstleaf, one of the largest direct-to-consumer wine clubs in the United States.
Pursuing is passion to join the fight against the climate crisis, Lex launched the Who’s Saving the Planet Podcast. Over 100 episodes and counting, Lex considers this his love letter to earth.
When not hosting tastings, Lex works to help people make educated choices about their wardrobe as the CEO and Founder of United by Zero.
Lex has his BA from Yale University, Level 3 Diploma from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust, and is a Society of Wine Educators Certified Specialist of Wine.
